Handmade Process
Design
Every De Rosa creation begins as an original artistic concept inspired by nature, movement, and emotion. Our designers carefully study each subject to capture its character, elegance, and personality before transforming the vision into a collectible work of art.
Sculpting
The original sculpture is entirely shaped by hand by our skilled artisans. Every curve, proportion, and expression is meticulously modelled in clay, giving life and individuality to each design long before production begins.
Mould Making
Once a Master Design is approved, master moulds are created with exceptional precision. Liquid ceramic is carefully poured into these moulds, preserving every fine detail of the original handcrafted sculpture. While the ceramic is still semi-dry, the figurine is removed from the mould and prepared for the next stage of artistry.
Hand Carving
After casting, every figurine is individually hand carved using a technique created by our founders and perfected exclusively within our workshop. This meticulous stage is what truly distinguishes De Rosa from other collections and ensures that no two pieces are ever carved exactly alike. To achieve the extraordinary level of detail, each sculpture must be carved at different stages of moisture and drying.
Hand Painting
After the first kiln firing, each sculpture is hand painted using a colourful variety of ceramic slips and vibrant enamel glazes applied with fine brushes by experienced artisans. Colour are carefully combined to enhance depth, contrast, and the unique personality of every piece. Once completed, every figurine is fired again in the kiln at 1080 degrees Celsius to achieve its rich and lasting finish.
